GENERAL INFORMATION
The marshes and rivers of Northern Argentina are home to one of the most aggressive and acrobatic game fish in the world - the Golden Dorado. Fly Fishing Patagonia also offers some of the best wing shooting found anywhere in the region.

LENGTH OF STAY
All packages are completely customized, and the length of trips usually ranges from 3 days of hunting and/or fishing to 6 days.

THE FISHING
A typical day of fishing in the Esquina area will take you to two main rivers, the Corriente and the Parana. The Mississippi like Parana River is a huge deep (unwadeable) river, offering better chances for 20 plus fish. The Parana River Delta offers a labyrinth of water channels and islands, not the main Parana. The Corriente is smaller, more channelized and wadeable with sandy beaches and sandy river bottom. You will have opportunities to wade and float fish, using comfortable and spacious 19ft Carolina Skiffs. You will fish the main currents, channels, river mouths (bocas) and drop offs. Sight fishing is the most enjoyable way of seeking out the golden dorado, though searching the drop offs and currents with sink tips and giant streamers can be an excellent way to find fish. Not only will you catch Dorado, Chafalote or Dogfish, Piranha, Palometa (big piranha), pre historic Tararijas and Surubi catfish, as well as other exotic species of game fish. Dorado averages 7-8 pounds each and reach up to 25 inches in the Esquina Area. In a week of fishing proficirny anglers can land several fish in the 12-16 pound class. Both fly and casting rods are used

Seven and eight weight rods are the standard with floating and sinking lines with steel leaders and 20 pound mono. You will fish with large streamers and tarpon flies (anywhere from 3 to 8 inches long,) as well as poppers for explosive top-water action.

BOATS AND EQUIPMENT OFFERED
Fly Fishing Patagonia uses 19 foot Carolina Skiffs. Guns are available for rent at the lodge. For personal firearm entry into Argentina please contact Yellow Dog Fly Fishing Adventures.

THE LODGING
The Estancia La Pelada is located on the Corriente River and roughly 35 kilometers from north of Esquina. The ranch is fully staffed, and designed in the colonial Spanish style. La Pelada operates as a hunting and fishing lodge as well as a horse and cattle ranch. Up to 8 guests stay in elegant, European designed rooms, all with private baths, and have access to the ranch’s riverside pool and beautiful veranda overlooking the river.

Meals are served in traditional Argentine fashion, including a variety of meats, cheeses and breads from the region as well as the fantastic wine from Mendoza. The staff will be waiting for you with a moist towel and cocktails when you step into the lodge after a long day on the water.

WHAT’S INCLUDED
Accommodations, food, wine, beer, spirits, local transportation, local airport shuttle, professional guided hunting and fishing, fishing and hunting licenses.

WHAT’S NOT INCLUDED
Transfers, hotel, and food in Buenos Aires, air travel and related costs, shotgun shells, gun, and rod rentals, gratuity for guides and staff, phone calls, and personal shopping.

DEPOSIT INFORMATION
A 50% deposit (per angler) of the total package cost for each trip is due within 10 days of booking to secure the reservation. Guides and dates cannot be held or reserved without a deposit. YDFA reserves the right to charge a handling fee of $100 per person for date changes after the initial reservation has been made. Full payment is due 90 days prior to departure. Because deposits and final payments are non-refundable on this trip, we highly recommends purchasing trip insurance with this package!

HOW TO GET THERE
Getting to Argentina is not difficult. Take an easy overnight flight to Buenos Aires from one of several major cities in the U.S, get a good night’s rest, and awake in Argentina. You will be met by a Fly Fishing Patagonia agent at the airport and transferred to your hotel or to the domestic airport for immediate departure to Santa Fe, Argentina or Corrientes airpots using Aerolinas Argentinas or SOL Airlines. Yor guides will pick you up and drive you 3 or 4 hours to the ranch.

An economical way to reach Esquina is by taking a 7 hour bus ride from Buenos Aires. Multiple bus companies have several daily departues and offer clean, professional service. With meal beverage service and reclining seats it's a relaxing way to see the countryside.

DOCUMENTS REQUIRED
Citizens of the USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Britain, Ireland and other Western European nations do not need a visa for tourist trips of up to ninety days. You will need a valid passport and will have to fill in a landing card on arrival and you will be given a stamp for stays of thirty, sixty or ninety days. Staple your duplicate of the landing card into your passport, next to your entrance stamp, as you'll need it to leave the country. If you do lose it, it's rarely a serious problem, but you'll have to fill in a new form at the border control. On entering the country, you will also be given a customs declaration form. Duty is not charged on used personal effects, books, and other articles for non-commercial purposes, up to the value of $300. Make sure you declare any valuable electronic items such as laptop computers, as customs officers can be suspicious that you may be bringing them into the country to sell.

NON-ANGLING ACTIVITIES
Estancia La Pelada has much to offer the non-angler, and there is a great deal more to explore than just the fishing and hunting. Some of the many activities include flora and fauna tours via boat, spa services, and touring local ranches and the historical town of esquina. The ranch's vast, soft grasslands are a paradise for horseback riding and polo lessons, which are offered by the owners.
