THE FISHING
The waters of Wollaston Lake Lodge lure anglers from far and wide for the ultimate Grand Slam of freshwater fishing: Northern Pike, Lake Trout, Walleye and Arctic Grayling. These world-class fish are found in only a handful of Saskatchewan’s 98,000 lakes. The lake itself is 110 miles long, 45 miles wide with 2,700 miles of shoreline and nearly 400 islands. Our catch-and-release tradition (begun in the 1980's) helps assure great fishing year after year, with barbless hooks and careful handling procedures. We make every effort to conserve the fish population for future generations.
Few things stir the blood of a born angler like a powerful northern pike in hot pursuit of a fly. Or an arctic grayling battling you and your 5-weight rod in fast moving water. In the spring or fall, you can match wits with lake trout that are numerous and ravenous. The lodge’s guides (taught by experts Larry Dahlberg and Barry Reynolds) are experienced at guiding fly fishermen, and all of the boats have huge casting decks with plenty of room to maneuver. If you’ve ever dreamt of tangling with a huge pike or lake trout on the fly, these guys truly have the expertise to help you accomplish that goal.
A number of daily fly-out options are also available to maximize your angling pleasure on Wollaston Lake. The fly-outs take you to remote destinations, each focusing on a unique fishery. Some are known for Northern Pike, others for Walleye, Grayling, Lake Trout or a combination. There’s a seat waiting for you on one of the lodge’s two 9-passenger de Havilland Turbo Otter float planes, each carrying up to six guests. When you touch down, you’ll find the lodge’s own boats standing by. You can book your fly-outs in advance, and can contact Yellow Dog for details and pricing.
BOATS AND EQUIPMENT OFFERED
You will fish and ride with comfort and security in a custom-crafted, 18-foot Wollaston Lake Lodge Edition Lund Pro-V, powered by an 80-hp Yamaha 4-stroke engine for smooth travel over big water. You’ll appreciate the spring-ride pedestal seating, raised casting deck, wide gunnels, Lowrance depth finder and MinnKota trolling motor. The lodge will pack a cooler daily with your choice of beverages. If you need tackle, they can also rent you top-of-the-line rod and reel combos (spinning, baitcasting or fly rods) with the right flies or lures for area waters. The main lodge features a fully-stocked tackle shop full of equipment you can buy or rent. They also offer a wide range of top quality clothing, rain gear, gifts and more.
