GENERAL INFORMATION
The Great Sailfishing Company has been providing economical all-inclusive sportfishing trips in Guatemala for many years. Each package is customized to make sure your overall Guatemalan experience is the best it can be.

LENGTH OF STAY
Standard packages last between 3 to 7 days, although trips of any length can be arranged.

THE FISHING
While there are many places in the world that claim to be the “Sailfish Capital of the World,” there is no place that can rival Guatemala when it comes to the consistent numbers of rises, bites and releases. Any brief search of the internet, numerous fishing magazines, or articles will provide figures that say pretty much the same thing: raises of over 25 sailfish per day are common, double and triple hookups are common, and - on average - between 15 and 22 sailfish are caught and released per boat, per day on conventional gear, 10-20 on the fly. There is also the possibility of raising a blue marlin any time of the year! During the 2005/06 season there were new records set for the number of sailfish caught in a single day by one boat: 122 on conventional, 57 on the fly.

Guatemala is still relatively unknown for big sailfish tournaments and fancy beachfront resorts, and it is overall a relatively new destination in the world of billfishing. The attraction, however, lies in the large numbers of fish. What is it about the waters of Guatemala that attracts so many sailfish? The shape of the sea bottom, the flow of ocean currents, water temperature, sea life, and an amazing amount of food and baitfish all contribute to creating a habitat in which Pacific Sailfish thrive. In fact some say Guatemala is the world’s most fertile Pacific Sailfish breeding grounds. The Guatemalan Government and local fishermen have also played their part by adopting a catch and release policy for billfish and mandating the use of circle hooks.

BOATS AND EQUIPMENT OFFERED
G.S.F.C. offers top quality boats ranging from 28 to 38 feet, including their newest acquisition, a 35ft Bertram Sportfisher - the M/V "Reel Diver". All vessels at G.S.F.C. undergo routine servicing to allow you to experience the best sailfishing in the world. Conventional tackle includes Shimano, Penn and Okuma mated to stand-up. Fly tackle from 9 through 16 weights includes Cam Siegler rods and Billy Pate reels. All of the captains and mates are well experienced in both conventional and fly-fishing tackle.

THE LODGING
The Great Sailfishing Company packages include two different options for lodging and accommodations. Whether you prefer the luxury of a private villa staffed with your own personal chef, maid and waitress, or the larger resort atmosphere of the Villas Del Pacifico, we will completely customize your accommodations to best meet your needs.

Villas Del Pacifico Resort is a large beach-front hotel offering angler and non-anglers a large variety of amenities and activities, including two large swimming pools (one with a swim-up bar,) a full gym, weekend disco and club, tennis, pool tables, and much more. For larger groups or for those preferring a more personal, private experience, there is also the option of a private villa. These beautiful private homes are located in the Villas Del Pacifico complex and include a private chef, waitress and maid. All have either a private or semi-private pool as well. Both complexes feature 24-hour security personnel to ensure a safe and enjoyable stay.
